Abstract
Amenity migration often brings population growth and development to the rural areas of the United States richest in scenic and recreational resources. The "turnaround" migration of Americans from urban to rural amenity areas increased dramatically in the 1970 's, declined in the 1980 's and surged again in the 1990 's. This paper focuses on the theoretical perspectives, social context, and implications associated with amenity migration.
