Abstract

In-stream recreation use of the upper Pemigewasset and Swift River Drainages was estimated by a technique based on modified, stratified sampling. Results are reported by category of stream segment, season, day of week, time of day, and activity. "Weekend and holiday" use exceeded weekday use during spring and fall, but weekdays had the heaviest use during the summer. Recreation use was much greater in summer than in spring or fall.
