Upland forest vegetation within the research natural area is classified as Abies grandisA/acdnium globulare and Abies grandis/Spiraea betulifolia h.t. The natural area is located within the Blue Mountains Section of the Middle Rocky Mountains Province. Bear Creek RNA encompasses one of three specially designated occurrences of Abies grandis/Spiraea betulifolia h.t. and one of three currently specially designated occurrences of Abies grandis/Vaccinium globulare h.t. within the Blue Mountains Section.
