Burns Canyon Research Natural Area
Ecological and Physical Description
Burns Canyon Research Natural Area (RNA) is a steep, mountainous tract of complex sedimentary rock in the Overthrust Belt of Idaho. In addition to interesting geology, which includes a landslide that probably resulted from an earthquake, the RNA includes forests climax to coniferous and broadleaf-deciduous species, scrublands climax to several species, and an excellent stream segment bordered by good riparian vegetation. Representative of subalpine fir/ninebark habitat type.
