Primary Features

The Canyon City RNA contains many vegetation types and biophysical combinations representative of the central Black Hills forested ecosystem, including ponderosa pine/grasslands, ponderosa pine/shrublands, scree woodlands, white spruce/twinflower (Picea glauca/Linnaea borealis) forests known only from the Black Hills, as well as white spruce alluvial forest and riparian shrublands along Rapid Creek.
