Primary Features

The Mill Creek RNA extends from the small alpine summit of Gibson Peak in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado down to the San Luis Valley. An extensive area of pinyon-juniper woodland covers the lower mountain slopes and the gently sloping bajada at the base of the mountain, high quality examples of foothills shrubland, pinyon-juniper woodland, mixed conifer and spruce-fir forest, subalpine grassland, and alpine tundra cover types.
