Primary Features

Characteristic of the canyon type found in southwestern Colorado, the Narraguinnep RNA occupies the deep canyon of Narraguinnep Creek in the western San Juan Mountains. The canyon slopes are covered by a mosaic of Gambel oak, pinyon pine, Utah juniper; and ponderosa pine. Old growth ponderosa pine stands survived an intense fire in 2009.
