Primary Features
The RNA encompasses a cross-section of the North Fork Boise River Canyon, four miles upstream from its confluence with the Middle Fork. The terrain is characterized by extremely steep slopes formed in easily eroded batholith granitics with many cliffs and precipices. Vegetation is primarily Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) forest in a variety of successional stages. Large inclusions of bluebunch wheatgrass (Agropyron spicatwn) grassland occupy gentler slopes with south aspects. There are also localized occurences of bittercherry/bluebunch wheatgrass (Prunus emarginata/Agropyron spicatum) shrub type
