Primary Features
The North Zapata RNA includes approximately three miles along the crest of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the slopes to the west, down to the pinyon-juniper covered bajadas of the San Luis Valley. The complete watersheds of several small creeks and their rugged canyons are included in the RNA. The high quality upper elevation alpine/subalpine grasslands and bristlecone pine woodlands are notable ecological features.
