Team Structure
USNAP Project Teams
The USNAP consists of three Committees that manage, facilitate, and produce content for the project:
- Executive Committee
- Project Support Committee
- Core Committee
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is divided into co-equal representatives from the current participating nations: the United States, Canada and Mexico. The primary responsibility of the Executive Committee is to provide country-level approval, encourage participation, and solicit funding and personnel to sustain the project.
Project Support Committee
The Project Support Committee is designed to manage critical processes of the USNAP. This committee includes the following:
- Principal Investigator
- U.S. Coordinator
- Canada Coordinator
- Mexico Coordinator
- University Authorship Team
- Lead Editor
- Web Development Team
- Translation Team
- Co-Author Pool
Core Committee
The Core Committee is the primary instrument for:
- Developing the content for the updated Silvics of North America
- Conducting peer reviews
- Managing species-specific or discipline-specific concerns related to the project
Species Group Teams
Within the Core Committee are three Species Group Teams which address the different chapter types. Each team is managed by 1 - 4 Team Leads and supported by 10 - 20 Team Members. These teams are:
- Coniferous Team
- Deciduous Team
- Exotic and Invasives Team
Section Teams
In addition to Species Group Teams, the Core Committee has 9 Section Teams which address the standardized topics represented in each chapter. Each team is managed by 1 - 4 Team Leads and supported by 10 - 20 Team Members. These teams are:
- Distribution and Environmental Associations Team
- Regeneration and Management Team
- Genetics Team
- Insects and Diseases Team
- Wildland Fire Team
- Drought Team
- Additional Disturbances Team
- Goods and Services Team
- Urban Forestry Team
