Abstract
Phosphorus fertilization and mechanical seedbed preparation influenced growth of slash pine on three Plummer sand sites that varied in wetness. On dry and intermediate sites, tree heights at age 8 years were about equal on flat-disked sites, beds elevated about 5 inches, and beds elevated about 10 inches. On the wet site, high beds excelled. Top dressing with phosphorus at age 2 years stimulated growth by 2 to 5 feet on all seedbeds of the wet and intermediate sites.
