Abstract
Development of typical slash pine (Pinus elliottii var. elliottii) and South Florida slash pine (Pinus elliottii var. densa Little & Dorman) was studied under conditions simulating south Florida's winter-spring droughts and summer floods. One of three degrees of flooding was imposed on seedlings which had been subjected to one of three degrees of drought. Results indicate that the drought period is more limiting to development of slash pine seedlings than is the subsequent wet period.
