This paper describes an exploratory application of the Implications Wheel method to uncover potential consequences of important emerging issues identified through horizon scanning. The issue "growing apathy toward the environment" was explored. - This resource update provides an overview of forest resources in South Carolina based on an inventory conducted by the U.S. Forest Service, Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program at the Southern Research Station (SRS) in cooperation with the South Carolina Forestry Commission. Estimates are based on field data collected using the FIA annualized sample design and are updated yearly. - PREMISE OF THE STUDY: Aboveground biomass (AGB) of herbaceous vegetation is a primary source of fuel in frequent surface fires that maintain grasslands, savannas, and woodlands. - A new species, Michenera incrustata from southern China, is described and illustrated. It is the second species in Michenera and differs from the generic type, M. atrocreas, by its hyaline, thick-walled lamprocystidia and larger basidia and basidiospores.
