- Wood-consuming furniture manufacturers (WCFM) are major users of forest products in the United States. Between 2000 and 2009, the real value of domestic WCFM shipments (production) declined by 51%. After 2009, WCFM shipments fluctuated, but by 2019 shipments were 48% below 2000 levels. A major contributor to this decline was furniture imports. - Tree fecundity and recruitment have not yet been quantified at scales needed to anticipate biogeographic shifts in response to climate change. In the existing literature, however, there are data on domestic transportation, but little understanding exists about the environmental impacts from the CLT import. - All 50 states offer preferential property tax programs that lower the taxes paid on enrolled agricultural and/or forest lands.
