The growing SNAPSHOT USA dataset is intended for tracking the spatial and temporal responses of mammal populations to changes in land use, land cover and climate. - The national Fire and Fire Surrogate (FFS) study was initiated more than two decades ago with the goal of evaluating the ecological impacts of mechanical treatments and prescribed fire in different ecosystems across the United States. - Wildfire impacts on communities and forests are a growing crisis in the United States. In 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service launched a major investment in landscape-level treatments to reduce hazardous fuels, which focused on 10 priority landscapes across eight states in the Western United States. - Understanding landowner motivations and barriers is critical to the success of conservation programs. In 2020, we conducted a survey of family forest owners in Vermont related to expert visits, patch cuts, and applying for cost-share funds. We analyzed the activities using the Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change (TTM) and ordinal logistic regression. - This study focused on an outbreak of D. sapinea and Diplodia scrobiculata, which caused extensive dieback and mortality of slash pines (Pinus elliottii) along a highway in central Florida starting in 2012. The presence of an unusually large and uniform outbreak led to concern about what factors were responsible in the development of the outbreak.
