Black ash is a foundational species in forested wetlands across the upper Lake States region, and the loss of black ash due to emerald ash borer affects the hydrology of these wetlands, which are already at risk from climate change impacts like extreme precipitation. Dustin Bronson will present current research solutions to restore floodplain forests and hydrologic functions. Alexander Mehne will discuss this issue in regard to effects on tribal communities and share management examples from the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
