Managing the Land

History shows that humans have lived on and interacted with the land in North America for more than 10,000 years. Human relationship with these lands has evolved over the centuries to a point where both the direct and indirect influence of human activities is evident across nearly all landscapes. 

Northern Research Station research in forestry, grassland management, biological and physical sciences, and socioeconomics guide land management decision making. Through a constant dialogue with resource managers, Tribal partners, state agencies, and private landholding partners, science published by the Northern Research Station provides land managers with need tools based to accomplish management objectives and ensure a healthy and sustainable future.
