- The canopy camera is a device of new design that takes wide-angle, overhead photographs of vegetation canopies, cloud cover, topographic horizons, and similar subjects. Since the entire hemisphere is photographed in a single exposure, the resulting photograph is circular, with the horizon forming the perimeter and the zenith the center. - Ponderosa pine forests cover more than half of the timbered lands in Colorado. This forest zone occupies most of the Colorado Front Range, the easternmost range of the central Rocky Mountain system. Here ponderosa pine is found at elevations between 6,500 and 9,000 feet.
