Ecology

All species have unique and complex relationships with the land. The Southern Research Station explores these relationships and develops tools to maintain healthy, resilient forest ecosystems. We provide basic knowledge on the biology and ecology of southern species.
Strategies for controlling pests, pathogens, and nonnative invasive plants are among the applications for this work. We develop tools for anticipating and responding to droughts, hurricanes, insect outbreaks, and other threats.
