Green Infrastructure

Efforts are underway by the City of Atlanta to install green infrastructure along Boone Blvd., which transects the English Ave. and Vine City neighborhoods in Atlanta’s Proctor Creek community. The installation is intended to help mitigate flooding.

Also, according to a Health Impact Assessment conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency, the green infrastructure should have positive effects on community well-being, for instance lessening social stressors which contribute to illness and disease. SRS-4952 is conducting a baseline survey of stressors residents perceive and experience before the installation. A follow up survey will be conducted after the installation to assess changes in both perceived and experienced stressors associated with the local environment.
