The Baltimore Field Station is part of the U.S. Forest Service’s network of Urban Field Stations. Located in New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Juan, they conduct and support local research on urban social-ecological systems.

The Baltimore Field Station is also part of the U.S. Forest Service’s experimental forest network, locations dedicated to long-term research on ecosystem processes, silviculture and forest management options, wildlife habitat characteristics, and forest growth and development. The Northern Research Station includes 22 official and 2 cooperating experimental forests in 13 states throughout the Midwest and Northeast. 

 The U.S. Forest Service is the lead institution for the Baltimore location of the Urban Waters Federal Partnership. Baltimore Field Station staff play an integral role in convening and coordinating the Baltimore Urban Waters network of federal, state, local, academic, and nonprofit partners, as well as executing projects in support of the Urban Waters Initiative.

The Baltimore Field Station is also a member of numerous additional networks and collaborations, including: the Global Land Project, Urban Ecology Collaborative, Urban Sustainability Research Coordination Network, and Rutgers Center for Resilient Landscapes.
