Ice Storms in the Northeast
Rooted in Research Webinar Series:Adapting to Extreme Weather “Wild Cards”
Ice storms are expected to become more frequent with climate change and can cause significant damage to trees, properties, and utilities. Lindsey Rustad from the USDA Northeast Climate Hub will discuss the science of ice storms, exploring what we have learned from studying natural storms, experimental storms, and models. Lloyd Irland of the Irland Group will then share consequences of ice storms on forest management and timber, broadening this discussion to cover the impacts of wild winter weather events more generally.
