Species Habitat Modeling Under Future Climates

Our primary research focuses on understanding the potential impacts of climate change on tree and bird habitats. Using empirical data we derive statistical species-based models of current habitat associations based on climate and landscape characteristics. These results provide a statistically based prospective for potential future habitat of trees and birds.
Our habitat suitability models use climate, elevation, and soil information to predict individual species relative abundance. While not all environmental data sets are important predictors within the model, the information can provide useful context to interpreting model outputs.
