- A lidar-derived canopy height profile (CHP), generated from canopy bulk density (CBD) estimates for a sequence of 1-m increments through the canopy, provides a physical measure of forest structure. - Our meta-analysis uses 21 hedonic property value studies and 157 unique observations to study the influence of tree cover on the value of homes in the United States. We construct elasticity estimates of the percentage change in home value for a 1% change in the percentage of tree cover around a home. - Maples (the genus Acer) represent important and beloved forest, urban, and ornamental trees distributed throughout the Northern hemisphere. - A new and devastating disease, rapid ohia death (ROD), in Hawaii led to a state quarantine that regulates interisland transport of ohia wood and plant material to prevent spread of the causal pathogens.
