Wolf Creek

Wolf Creek Research Natural Area (RNA) was established to represent? The RNA lies in the rolling foothills of the Cascade Range with rolling to steep topography. Antelope bitterbrush (Purshia tridentata)/Idaho fescue (Festuca idahoensis) and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa)-Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)/ snowberry (Gaultheria)/bluebunch wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria spicata) are dominant plant associations of the RNA. Beardless bluebunch wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria spicata) dominates stands in the antelope bitterbrush/Idaho fescue community while occasional patches of Idaho fescue, Baslsamorhiza, Sandberg bluegrass (Poa secunda), and ponderosa pine are also present. Common snowberry (Symphoricarpos albus) and beardless bluebunch wheatgrass are dominant understory throughout the RNA.
