What do you need to get started?
User will need a basic understanding of plantation forestry and agriculture. User will need access to MATLAB or equivalent open-source platform and basic understanding of how to operate it.
Outputs
Modeled financial risk and returns outcomes from agroforestry within scenarios defined by user, to compare to conventional agriculture (row crops) and plantation forestry.
Strengths
The code provides defaults to model alley cropping agroforestry and gives the user complete flexibility to alter scenarios and change underlying assumptions.
Limitations
Requires knowledge of computer coding to run simulations, as well as comprehension of agricultural and forestry finance/economics and risk concepts.
