We had a productive fiscal year 2023, completing work on 16 field projects across 7 national forests and continuing support of several Southern Research Station projects. We deployed our field teams to areas as far away as Puerto Rico, Alabama, and Kentucky while tackling projects from stream fish and habitat monitoring to outreach and education. In this technical report, we describe the outcomes of a survey of civic environmental stewardship groups in the Southeast New England Program (SNEP) region, which includes the watersheds of Narragansett Bay, Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, and adjacent Islands. Sea level rise (SLR) is one of the greatest future threats mangroves face. Mangroves have kept up with past SLR by maintaining their forest floor elevation relative to SLR through root growth, sedimentation, and inland migration. Currently, these processes are affected by human activities. Identifying mangroves resilient to SLR is vital for more effective conservation of mangroves.
