The Estate Thomas Experimental Forest (hereinafter Estate Thomas) is the only tropical dry forest owned and administered for this purpose by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service. It is the easternmost experimental forest in the agency's system of Experimental Forests and Ranges, located 5.4 km west of Christiansted, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands (Figure 1 ). The FIA Annual Business Reports evaluate the performance of the FIA program to ensure accountability and transparency to FIA partners, supporters and customers. Report covers a trip to Nepal funded by United States Department of State, United States Forest Service (USFS), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund-Nepal. Mission objectives were to provide observations and recommendations of fire management in Nepal after visiting with Nepal Government, stakeholders and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) active in fire management issues.

This project brought together a broad range of scientists and engineers to start filling in the many knowledge gaps that exist with respect to the nearshore zone of Lake Tahoe.
